The Big Brothers of Blogs

When thinking of teenagers nowadays, they pay attention to social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. For teens, blogs may be considered a pastime. As for me, I do not pay attention to blogs or read them in my spare time, Although I found that blogs can provide massive amounts of information and have lots of educational value. These following three blogs that I have stumbled upon are some blogs that I have taken my time to read, and that I have learned a lot from, as well as blogs that I can take from and devolp my blog.

When starting my search for great, useful blogs, I stumbled upon A Beautiful Mess lifestyle blog. Now I know what you may be thinking, why is a guy reading a blog about falling deeply in love. Well, I think everyone has a soft spot for topics like this, and as I continued to read this blog, I realized how much I had misconceived blogs in the past. In particular, this blog shows me that hearing about deep topics, something most people can relate to is the right direction to go with a blog(although it is not the only direction whatsoever). I love how you can share your own experiences, hoping others can relate to you with blogs. They provide others with a source of relief and comfort, as this did for me. Lastly, I feel as though this blog had encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and seek discomfort, which is something I need to do more often.

The following blog I stumbled upon was a very dissimilar one from the first, The Athletic. According to detailed.com, The Athletic is ranked as the second best sports blog at this moment. As someone who is deeply involved in sports, some mornings I find it hard to catch up on ESPN or Sports Center if I am in a rush. As an alternative, I go on The Athletic and catch up on last nights game, the upcoming week in sports, and player injuries. Although The Athletic may not be for everyone, it really shows the potential of what a blog can become. It is very neatly organized, full of up to date information, and attracts thousands of readers daily. This blog is something anyone can browse through for inspiration on how to display their blog, or a proper new theme they may be looking for to make theirs look more presentable.

Last, but not least, we have the Huffington Post. According to Forbes, the Huffington Post, or HuffPost as it is now referred to as, is one of the most successful blogs to date. Raking in a massive amount of $14 million a month, the HuffPost is "the stuff of legends" according to Forbes. With everything from your daily news to the best things to shop for this upcoming Black Friday, they have it all. The HuffPost may be way out of reach with regards to what I will be able to achieve with my blog this year, but it reminds me that it is always something to look up to. The HuffPost will be a great spot to find inspiration for many blogs this year, as well as somewhere I can look in order to improve my blog, even if it's in the slightest bit. I will strive to make my blog as neat, orderly, and informative as possible, just like the HuffPost.

Arguing to Achieve

When the thought of argument gets brought to my mind, I instantly think it's a bad contrivance. Most times in my life, argument spurs from a small disagreement or understanding, which leads into a bigger problem down the road. As argumentation is not ideal, it is necessary. Part of living in a community involves arguing. There is always something that will divide one individual from another, even if two individuals are very similar and seem to get along well. The largest dividing factor above us all is language. Language makes community and the ability to understand possible, but it can also create misunderstanding and separation.      Where people identify with each other the closest, there a bound to be disagreements. I find this very true especially amongst siblings. My brother and I are very  similar. We have many disagreements from day to day. As siblings, sometimes we settle an argument by "fighting," especially when we were little ....

Just or Unjust?

There comes a point and time when enough is enough. No matter how big or small the situation may escalate to be, none of us are capable of handling vast amounts of hate and not seeing an effect on our well-being. For Caster Semenya, there became a point in time where she could not handle the disbelief, hatred, and doubt others constantly gave her, leading to her having to eliminate herself from the situation outright. Caster was constantly questioned on her gender, as most people did not believe that she was a woman, simply because she was outperforming her counterparts day in and day out. Do her competitors have a just reason as to why they don’t think she is a woman? Does Caster Semenya deserve to be questioned and examined, in order to make it fair for her opponents?  “Either/Or: Sports, Sex, and the Case of Caster Semenya” by Ariel Levy, a well known journalist, seems to be about intersexcuality and sports, but could also be about just, and unjust actions. Throughout this com...

Considering Analysis

Prior to SUPA Writing, my knowledge on literary analysis was slim to none. I’ve heard of people analyzing data and statistics quite often, but not so much writing or composers by individuals. With the little knowledge I had on literary analysis, I thought it was just simply summarizing something in greater depth than normal. I was utterly wrong. Summarizing would be to take ideas and project them in a more developed, meticulous way. To analyze would be to add your own thought of such elements that you are presenting upon, most times looking deeper and asking yourself “why” and “how” to reach your own conclusion.  I quickly learned how to analyze when I was given the task to pick a cover from the popular magazine, The New Yorker. I “simply” had to analyze a very jejune picture, with what seemed like little meaning behind it. At first, I simply summarized this picture in about one and half paragraphs, thinking I had completed the task. In following classes I realized that wh...
