Living on the Edge. Literally.

Most of us can think back to a memorable date in our past. Maybe this specific date is your anniversary with a loved one, a birthday, or possibly even the date you bought your first home. For Alex Honnold, a professional rock climber, that memorable date is June 3, 2017. On this day, Alex climbed El Capitan, a 3,000 foot vertical rock in Yosemite National Park. This wasn't your regular rock climb. Alex free soloed this mountain, meaning he did not use any ropes, or other safety precautions. Yes, you heard that right.  Alex Honnold came up with this crazy, yet doable idea in his mind. He wanted to be the first person to free solo El Capitan. Going into this, many people have tried to do this exact climb, and Alex knew that. 25 people have fallen to their death in an attemt to climb El Capitan.  In 2015 Alex and his film crew started documenting this process of working himself up to a free solo climb. His film crew consisted of some of his very close friends in which he ha...

You wouldn't believe how the Happiest Man Alive lives...

Imagine that you are 50 years old working in the corporate world when all of the sudden you have an extremely unusual idea. You want to escape reality and live what to you is the perfect life. For many adults 50 and older, they look forward to watching their grand kids grow and develop, their annaul vacations, and fires with their family.  For Mario Salcedo, a single gentleman in his late 60s, his perfect life doesn't contain any of these usual ideas. He lives his life on a cruise ship. For nearly 7,000 nights (19 years), Mario has been cruising nonstop. Many employees on these cruise ships know him personally now due to the fact of how much they see him on occasion. One employee even knows his exact breakfast order and has it ready for him every morning.  Mario seems to be extremely happy. He is living his dream. Who wouldn't want to live out their life long dream?  He seems to make many friends on these cruises, with some who have the same love for cruising as him...

There's Nothing Toxic About Masculinity

In today's world, the idea of toxic masculinity surrounds us. Toxic masculinity is universally defined as  as   the archetypal image of what it  means  to be  masculine  becomes harmful and aspirational. It thrives by penalizing behavior which  does  not conform to its standard and celebrating behavior which  does . My question is is there something wrong about ambition and wanting to get up in the morning and wanting to take your place in society? I feel as if the idea of this toxic masculinity is saying that society is an oppressive patriarchy  responsible for everything that is wrong in today's  world, when that is not the case at all.   The masculine spirit is extremely necessary. It is not fundamentally rape culture, it is not fundamentally world destroying. Many men seem to struggle to be a man nowadays, and Jordan Peterson, a Canadian clinical psychologist, explains how it is not only okay to be a man now...

Let's have a (Better) Conversation!

When was the last time you had a conversation where you walked away thinking, "Wow, that was productive." For many, you might not remember a time like this. As for me, I try to learn and take away something from every conversation in which I am involved in, and Celeste Headlee wants you to do the same.  Celeste Headlee, an award-winning journalist, author, and accomplished speaker shares advice on how to act, and how to carry a conversation more professionally.   Many people, including myself before watching this video, think they know how to properly talk and listen during a conversation, when in reality it is way more than just talking and listening that goes into this proper conversation.  Celeste Headlee is ultimately teaching the viewer how to "interview" someone they are talking to. Now many of us have had productive, engaging, moving conversations that leave you thinking and wondering why every conversation can't go as smooth as that. Well...

The Big Brothers of Blogs

When thinking of teenagers nowadays, they pay attention to social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. For teens, blogs may be considered a pastime. As for me, I do not pay attention to blogs or read them in my spare time, Although I found that blogs can provide massive amounts of information and have lots of educational value. These following three blogs that I have stumbled upon are some blogs that I have taken my time to read, and that I have learned a lot from, as well as blogs that I can take from and devolp my blog. When starting my search for great, useful blogs, I stumbled upon A Beautiful Mess lifestyle blog.  Now I know what you may be thinking, why is a guy reading a blog about falling deeply in love. Well, I think everyone has a soft spot for topics like this, and as I continued to read this blog, I realized how much I had misconceived blogs in the past. In particular, this blog shows me that hearing about deep topics, something most people can relate to...
